So what are some of your favorite songs now?
My favorite song is probably “Take a Chance on Me.” I love that song alone, and I love the scene as well. The characters Rosie and Bill do that song in the show. ... But I don’t sing in that song. I think my favorite song to do is probably “Honey Honey.” I love that scene. It’s with my two best girlfriends in the show. It opens the show. It’s high energy.
The story of “Mamma Mia!” seems to focus on female roles. Would you characterize this musical as one that showcases strong women characters?
It is a lot about really independent women, such as the story of Donna, who is my mom in the show, how she spent her whole life raising me on her own. She’s not married, and there’s really no man involved in her life for most of her life. ... I think there are some really strong women characters that play a big role in the show.
