Seventeen San Antonio-area bands will be perform July 10-12 at Monkeyfest 3, the third annual three-day celebration of music and art hosted by Drunkenmonkey Promotions S.A., the brainchild of project lead Anthony Trinidad.
“Drunkenmonkey Promotions S.A. was originally produced as a project in a (SAC) music business class,” Trinidad said. “Myself and a handful of students got together and agreed that it would be more beneficial to go about our class on a hands on approach.”
The inaugural Monkeyfest, held at the Limelight in July 2007, was a real class act.
“It was our final, I guess, as students,” Trinidad said. “It has just kept going since.”
Limelight continues to be a creative home for Trinidad and has fostered the careers of many local bands.
Trinidad, Jeremy Pacheco and Pete Requejo have pieced together bands that are as unique as they are different.
“My main role is making the event marketable and fun for everyone that's 21 and up,” Trinidad said.
