As the name implies, Loretta's Finest Simply Organic Foods for the Soul provides Southern soul food, cooked up with organic and MSG-free ingredients at an awesome price. With tempting entrée options such as Tomato Rosemary Hunters Chicken and Cilantro Chile Tilapia, the most difficult part of dinner is choosing what to get.

TASTE SENSATION: The Southwest Catfish is served with sautéed red onions, roasted corn, black beans and red bell peppers, making the presentation not only delicious but beautiful. Not a taste bud is wasted in this meal; the crisp onions offset the mild black beans nicely and make every bite of the catfish exceptional. With each entrée comes two sides. We tried the Southern classic, organic sautéed greens and the sweet potato fries and were not disappointed. The greens were salty and delicious, quickly coming to an end and leaving us wanting more.

The dessert menu varies, but the day we dined there were a couple of cake options including chocolate, red velvet and gluten-free chocolate. The gluten-free chocolate was moist and delicious, topped with roasted almonds that made it the perfect complement to a wonderful meal.

TUMS-WORTHY: Lunch service was under par. The extremely nice bus boy ended up attending to our needs more than our actual server. Whether because of a rush or a fluke server, we won't let it keep us from returning for more visits.

THE 210 TAKE: Dim lights, Bessie Smith playing in the background and soul food — it doesn't get much better than that. Loretta's Finest provides a relaxing ambience, perfect for enjoying such excellent food. Weekends play host to live music, which pushes our grade for Loretta's up to an A despite the service mishap. Definitely worth the drive out to Schertz, the organic ingredients make this a guilt-free dining experience.
