Bill Johnson, who played Leatherface in the 1986 film “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2,” is one of the star attractions at the Horrific Film Fest, which takes place the final weekend in August in San Antonio.

The four-day Horrific Film Fest kicks off at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, with a Horrific Zombie Walk from HemisFair Park to Azuca Nueva Latino on South Alamo Street for a Horrific Trailer Party.

George Ortiz, a horror-movie fan since he was a child, started organizing the Horrific Film Fest months ago with the help of El Instituto Cultural de México, where the festival’s films will be screened, and the City of San Antonio, which is helping promote the event.

The New York-born filmmaker who works at Randolph AFB bought and sold three used cars he fixed up so he could have enough money to make his first feature-length film, “The House of the Demon.”

The film, shot in Lytle last summer, will be among those screened at the Horrific Film Fest. It will be shown at 10:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29. Also screening his work that day will be San Antonio filmmaker Daniel Maldonado, who will show his 15-minute short film “Servant” at 5 p.m.

Other works to be shown include the Mexican films “El Santo y Blue Demon vs. Los Monstruos,” and “La Hacienda del Terror.” The films are part of a daylong celebration of Mexican-made horror films on Sunday, Aug. 31.
