NAME: Ellie Kuhn, 18 LOCATION: Old Navy, Alamo Quarry So what are you shopping for this afternoon? One of my good friends, I was wearing her shorts this weekend, and I really liked them. I needed a pair of white shorts, and this is where she bought them. Well, you look very nice for a Monday afternoon of shopping. Thank you. I just got out of school. Where do you go? Alamo Heights You must be a senior. So you’ll be graduating soon? Yes, I’m very excited. Where are you going to college? I’m playing volleyball at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Have you decided on a course of study? Fashion design. Oh, that makes sense. The thing I noticed about your style is you have on basic pieces of clothing with fantastic jewelry. I love that necklace. Thank you. I had a different necklace on, but I thought this one looked better. What do you look for in jewelry? I like big jewelry. I like things that stand out. I usually wear either really elaborate shirts or not elaborate shirts and big jewelry. What are you going to be doing this summer before college starts? I’m actually from Atlanta. I moved here two years ago. I’ll go back and visit awhile, and then I’m playing club volleyball. What’s that? When the high school season is over, there’s club volleyball. My team — Alamo — has girls from Churchill, Reagan, Smithson Valley, all the big 5A schools, and we travel all around the U.S. Have you always been athletic, played sports? I started volleyball as a freshman. My dad wanted me to get into a sport going into high school. Well, it certainly has paid off well since you’ll be playing in college. Yes, and I’ve just loved it ever since. Debbie Erwin | 210SA contributor |
