How long have you lived in San Antonio?

Seven or eight years. I came here to go to school. I have a degree from SAC, and I have family here.

So what’s your profession?

I’m a sign language interpreter and a runway model.

A model, wow. Is there a lot of opportunity for that in San Antonio?

There’s some here, but I also travel a lot. La Cantera opened up a lot more opportunities. They’re trying to up the fashion awareness here in San Antonio.

So how did you become a model?

I was waiting tables in college, and Julian Gold’s fashion producer saw me and asked me if I was interesting in modeling.

Do you ever get to keep any of the clothes?

No, I wish.

You’re wearing black today. Do you wear it a lot?

I interpreted (sign language) today, and black is a good color.

Why is that?

Deaf people are completely visual. Light and bright colors are stressful on their eyes. Black is a good contrast between skin color.

I love your bag. What is it?

Dolce & Gabbana. I got it in New York.

How tall are you?

5’11”

And you’re wearing flats today.

I just wanted to be comfortable. I wear heels so often while modeling that I like to give my feet a break but still look fashionable.
