City gets all lathered up over Bikini Car Wash

By order of city officials, bikini-clad women are no longer allowed to wash cars at a business on South Flores Street — or at least until the owner of the controversial Bikini Car Wash fixes a drain and falls into compliance with city code. Owner Ricardo Arsate has 10 days to fix the problem and says he’ll be back in business by then. Starting at $15 for the basic wash and $35 for the “Player’s Special,” business has been so good that Arsate plans to branch out by hiring men to work shirtless.

The 210 take: And yet John’s Speedo-Clad Columnist Car Wash and Taqueria failed miserably.

Jenna Bush reception not held at Chuy’s

First daughter Jenna Bush and Henry Hager, the son of a well-connected Virginia Republican, said “I do” on President Bush’s 1,600-acre ranch near Crawford. Bush called the wedding “spectacular,” saying that his daughter and new son-in-law exchanged vows just as the sun set at the Central Texas ranch.

The 210 take: Bush said the wedding illustrated that marriage is between one man and one woman — unless you’re on a compound in West Texas and it’s between one man and 12 women.

S.A. decides tourists should pay for it all

By overwhelming margins, Bexar County voters committed $415 million in tax revenue to river improvements, sports fields, performing arts and long-term improvements to the AT&T Center. The funds come from the extension of the so-called “visitor tax” — a 1.75 percent tax on hotel rooms and %5 percent tax on car rentals.

The 210 take: For their next funding plan, city leaders plan to ask any tourists who walk by if they can spare a buck or two because the city’s car just broke down. City leaders promise to use the money for a bus ticket, not booze.

Rush helps Hillary and other apocalypse

Even as Barack Obama’s campaign celebrated the latest primary results, his aides charged that they would have had an even stronger showing were it not for conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh. Limbaugh had been encouraging listeners to vote for Hillary Clinton to “bloody up Obama politically” as part of his “Operation Chaos.” Clinton eked out a narrow victory in Indiana.

The 210 take: With Rush and Hillary making news again, the 1994 vault has creaked open and somewhere All-4-One has gathered to re-release “I Swear.”
