San Antonio isn’t exactly known for its vegetarian population. But now, 18-year-old San Antonio resident Kelly Anderson will be known for being voted the Cutest Vegetarian Alive. Anderson, a senior at Smithson Valley High School, beat out more than 1,700 female competitors from across the country in the third annual contest sponsored by peta2, the youth arm of the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. As the winner, she will receive an official Cutest Vegetarian Alive sash, a supply of vegan snacks and the chance to model a peta2 T-shirt on peta2’s Web site. Leonard Sun of Boulder, Colo., won the men’s division. Anderson stopped eating meat after researching factory farms for a 10th-grade school project. Now a vegan, she doesn’t eat animal products of any kind. Her photo and bio can be seen at peta2.com. Jessica Belasco | 210SA contributor |
