Workwear don'ts: Wear dangly earrings or noisy bangles; carry a beach bag; wear tight, low-cut sleeveless tops; wear athletic shorts, capri pants or cargo pants made in flimsy fabric; dress in a jeans jacket, pants skirt or jumper unless denim is allowed; and wear extremely bare sandals, flip-flops or slides.

The Morning Call

Style magazine Harper's Bazaar recently came out with a book about updating your look called ''Great Style'' (Hearst, $24.95), by Jenny Levin and Glenda Bailey, in which one of the chapters specifically addresses what we wear to work.

Make no mistake, they say, whether your office is relaxed or buttoned-up, whether it's written or not, every office has a dress code in the form of lines that should never be crossed:

- Never show your midriff.

- Avoid revealing too much cleavage.

- Be sure shirts are buttoned properly and never allow bra straps to show.

- Don't wear anything see-through unless you have the proper coverups underneath. Ever.
