WHAT: Dave & Buster's WHERE: 440 Crossroads Blvd.
THE DIGITS: (210) 515-1515; daveandbusters.com GET YOUR DRINK ON: 11:30 a.m.-midnight Sunday-Thursday; 11:30 a.m.-2 a.m. Friday-Saturday HOTTIES QUOTIENT: Medium to high. But the disappointment is that the majority of them are latched onto the arms of their significant others or hanging out with the fam. So for the homewrecker, Dave & Buster's could be the perfect place to come and find a challenge. This is a great place to bring your boyfriend or girlfriend for a night of fun, or if you're single and not looking for a potential date for the evening. The average age customer here is from 21 to 35. An exciting tip for sports fans: Keep a look out because you never know when you will see an occasional Robert Horry, Tony Parker or a Dallas Cowboy hanging out and playing games or sipping a beer. WALLET HANGOVER: High. If you come to both eat and play games, don't expect a cheap visit. The food, while it's very tasty and comes in large portions, is expensive. But there's a HUGE variety to choose from. From fish to pastas to burgers and fried finger foods, everyone is sure to find something to fill their bellies. The drinks are not cheap, either, but you do get a lot of liquor for your money. After just one rum and Coke, we were feeling pretty good. There's a happy hour from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Monday-Friday where they offer half-price wells and have discounts on beer and wine. During this time, you can also take advantage of their "Power Hour," where you can purchase a $10 game card that provides an hour of unlimited plays on non-redemption games. THE 210 TAKE: Dave & Buster's is a great place to go for a fun time with lots of variety. Walking through the place feels like walking through a casino in Las Vegas. With all the flashing lights and noises from games, you don't know where to look next. It's very exciting, and with the extent of fun things to do here, you couldn't possibly do it all in just one visit. This would be a great place to come during the Spurs playoffs. While fans can spend their time in front of one of the many TVs scattered throughout the place, others can play games and listen to the game while it is being broadcast from the speakers around the restaurant. We recommend coming here when you want a night of something different from the typical bar scene. But remember: The games are addictive and the food is good, so it would be hard to leave without spending much. Lauren Ruffner | 210SA contributor |
