No doubt history will be made at the 2008 Men's Final Four, as all four No. 1 seeds (Kansas, UCLA, Memphis and North Carolina) face off for the Division I championship. But watching history unfold won't come cheap. With a face value that ranges between $170 and $220, the tickets were sold out as soon as they went on sale. However, many are still available through private ticket brokers — at a much higher cost, of course. Through the fan-to-fan ticket-exchange service offered by Prime%Sport, the official ticket and hospitality package provider for the Final Four, a nosebleed-section seat in the Alamodome's upper level end zone is their cheapest available ticket at $392. Seats in the lower level can cost up to $11,182, and a luxury suite is now at a discounted price of $36,364. While ticket-scalping is illegal, it's the sore-loser fans who can be taken advantage of, offering a way for those who don't mind missing the semifinals to make it to the championship game. “Usually, the teams that lose, their fans all end up leaving pissed off and (trying to get rid of) their tickets,” said Zach Silva, a local sports fan. These disappointed sports fans likely will be found stomping and grumbling around the Alamodome, along with classic ticket scalpers and the plainclothes police officers who are looking for them and the brave fools who patronize them. But, hey, if you're that rabid a fan, it might be worth taking a chance. However, be warned: If the cop busts the scalper while you're making the deal, you could lose out on a ticket and your $220. The Internet also can be useful in the search for Final Four tickets. StubHub.com is one Web site. Owned by eBay, it functions much the same. Other risk-taking sports fans can always search Craigslist.org, where more than 100 buyers and sellers have posted their contact information. You can take a chance, fork over the dough, and pray those tix are legit. Jonathan Munson | 210SA contributor |
