WHAT: Durty Nelly's Irish Pub
WHERE: 200 S. Alamo (River Walk)
THE DIGITS: (210) 222-1400
GET YOUR DRINK ON: 11:30-2 a.m. Monday-Friday; noon-2 a.m. Sunday. You can also get your grub on until% 7 p.m. with a menu filled with fried delicacies.
HOTTIES QUOTIENT: Medium. You can have a drink with older professionals and pub enthusiasts alike. It is definitely a hangout for anyone with an Irish background or a tourist. There are significantly more men than women. Pub attire ranges anywhere from beat-up shoes to pumps and suit jacket to windbreakers, so it's a diverse atmosphere.
WALLET HANGOVER: Medium. There aren't any specials to speak of, which can be a bummer. A Long Island Iced Tea is $7.50, and a Shandy (Harp Lager and lemon-lime soda) is $5.50. The price is worth the punch since the drinks are strong.
THE 210 TAKE: If you can get over the downtown parking and the peanut shells on the floor, this pub has all the makings for a frequent hangout. The people are loud, the drinks are strong and you can sing along with the crowd in a variety of pub chants. The live music is really what makes the place so welcoming. There are few TVs, so it doesn't seem to be a place to watch the game, but what this pub lacks in bar games it more than makes up for in personality. The crowd dances and sings, and servers are friendly. It's worth the $7 parking if you gather up a bunch of friends for a night on the town.
