The Take Action! Tour's name is quite fitting in 2008: The tour — which hits The White Rabbit on Saturday, March 8 — is partnering with nonprofit organization Do Something to help young people make changes in their communities. Together, the groups will hand out $500 grants to people age 25 and under who live in the United States and Canada. The grants include money set aside for music education, poverty and general charity work. Anyone interested in applying for a grant can do so at dosomething.org/grants. Bands on this year’s Take Action! bill include Every Time I Die, From First to Last and August Burns Red. “Our recent generations brought the world the personal computer and the mobile phone but also brought the world global warming and world violence over a theological dispute,” said Louis Posen, president of Hopeless/Sub City Records, a Take Action! Tour sponsor, in a news release. “I can't imagine a better way to change the world than helping young, eager social entrepreneurs with resources to take action to solve the world's problems.” Last year, Do Something says it handed out more than $240,000 to those looking to make changes in their respective communities. “DoSomething.org is a trusted resource for young people that want to make a difference, and we believe in their ability to take action,” said Do Something exec Aria Finger in a news release.
