San Antonian Alfredo Lomelí was striving for singing stardom. He'll have to find another way to get it. The 22-year-old baritone and contestant on Telefutura's “Objetivo Fama 5” was eliminated from the singing competition show on Feb. 24. “Objetivo Fama,” a cross between “American Idol” and “Big Brother” that's wildly popular in Puerto Rico where the show is based, searches for the next Latino or Latina pop singing star. Lomelí, a 2003 Jefferson High School grad who studied opera at the University of Texas at San Antonio, was the only San Antonian among the 20 finalists competing on the show's fifth season, which began Feb. 3. He was the second person eliminated this season. Contestants depend solely on viewers' votes to advance. Melissa Rentería | 210SA contributor |
