THE WEB: myspace.com/hangar_sa GET YOUR DRINK ON: The Hangar is open seven nights a week. HOTTIES QUOTIENT: Low to medium, the Hangar draws in an array of clientele from the younger hotties to the alternative rockers and even some older bikers. It makes for an interesting mix and an even more interesting dynamic of cliques not seen since high school. Most of the crowd is rocking out to the live music or catching up on ESPN. WALLET HANGOVER: Medium. There are $2.50 specials on Dos XX, Coors Light and Michelob Ultra. There also are specials on mixed drinks and $2.50 “almost anything” on Sundays. Patrons can also play the arcade games in the corner or hustle at the pool table. Overall, the drink specials and even non-special prices favor beer drinkers. THE 210 TAKE: Word to the wise: Go to the Hangar with a crowd to make it less awkward. Singles won't do well here. The place gets packed, so expect a few elbows in the back and spilled drinks on the shoes. The music is mostly radio rock, and there is usually a band that covers '90s alternative hits. The main problem with this place is the setup. The space is tiny, and there are not enough places to sit and mingle. However, the staff is nice and service is fast. It is definitely a smoke-friendly environment. If you manage to get over the segregated setup and the oh so serious rock vibe, then party on. Jenina E. Hernandez | 210SA |
