The Fox and the Hound Pub and Grille is less pub and more bar.

WHAT: Fox and the Hound English Pub and Grille

WHERE: 12651 Vance Jackson Road

THE DIGITS: (210) 696-1356

THE WEB: tentcorp.com

GET YOUR DRINK ON: Stop by for food or drinks daily from 11 a.m.-2 a.m. Starting on Thursdays and into Saturday night, the Fox and the Hound becomes a popular hangout for avid beer drinkers.

HOTTIES QUOTIENT: Medium to high, this place usually draws people from the frat boy/sorority girl crowd to the dark beer- and cocktail-sipping cool crowd. Overall, the people are friendly, and later into evenings, it gets bustling with cheers, laughs and billiard bets.

WALLET HANGOVER: Low to medium, depending on taste. There are usually food and drink specials, so depending on the night, you can dine on 35-cent wings or gulp down a $2.25 draught pint. The mixed-drink fanatic can also expect a price cut on certain favorites. The food is tasty and worth eating if you're taking advantage of the drink specials. The standard dart boards and pool tables are available, but start mixing in drinks, food and games, and you might want to split the check with friends.

THE 210 TAKE: Fox and the Hound is a clean and relaxed place to take some friends or even a date. Though it says English pub in the name, there is nothing authentically pub-like besides the dark paint on the walls. Employees are friendly and helpful with beer selection. If you're looking for a place that can take you from dinner to drinking in the blink of an eye, this is it. Every first and third Sunday feature beer pong competitions. Nonsmokers can hang out in the green room or the center bar; smokers can relax in the burgundy room or outside on the patio. Overall, Fox and the Hound is a good one-stop for casual dining and drinking.
