Name: Amelia Gonzalez, 20 Location: Main Street Pizza & Pasta You have a very unique style. How would you describe it? Eighties made modern. Some '80s fashions are a little extreme, so I add a modern twist to keep it fresh. Cool. Is this how you dress for work? Yeah, I'm the assistant manager at Wet Seal in North Star Mall. We get to wear whatever expresses our individual style. So you must do a lot of your shopping there. Yes, a lot. I pretty much work for clothes. Aside from being a sales associate, I do some of the visual merchandising — styling the mannequins and putting together looks for the walls and window displays. How much of what's on display reflects your personal style? Probably about 75 percent because corporate gives us visuals to create, but I use them as a guide to create similar looks with my own touch. Are you pursuing a career in fashion? Well, no. I plan to join the Navy after this summer. I was ready to join right after high school, but my parents suggested I take some college first. But I've always loved fashion and everything about it. And, it's a very competitive industry. What are you going to do when you join the Navy, about your individual style, I mean? I haven't really thought about that. It's gonna be difficult — makeup, clothes and hair are how I express myself — but I'm sure I can figure out a way to personalize my look. Jeanie Tavitas-Williams | 210SA Contributor |
