GET YOUR DRINK ON: Tavern: Noon-2 a.m. Monday-Friday; 6 p.m.-2 a.m. Saturday; 8 p.m.-2 a.m. Sunday; Jazz Annex: 5 p.m.-2 a.m. Wednesday-Saturday

HOTTIES QUOTIENT: Medium. Located in the Medical Center area, the tavern and annex attract students, blue-collar workers, young professionals, jazz lovers and animal lovers — dogs are welcome. In the main bar, Tuesday is college night, and there's karaoke on Tuesday and Sunday nights.

WALLET HANGOVER: Low. Domestic beers and well drinks cost $2.50; imports cost $3.50. Happy hour runs 4-7 p.m. Monday-Friday in the main bar. There's never a cover for live music. The annex also offers specialty drinks, most of which cost $5-$6. Ask bartender Jason Meyer to make you one of his signature hurricanes, Long Island Iced Teas or margaritas, which all cost $6.

THE 210 TAKE: Oak Hills Tavern is cool because it's actually two bars: The larger main bar in the front is a typical dive, with pool tables, darts, TVs, arcade games and shabby furniture. Out back is the smaller annex with a more intimate, lounge-like atmosphere, complete with flickering candles and a cozy alcove or two. Bands play there regularly — there's a cool upright piano in one corner, next to the tiny stage — but on other nights, you can play Parcheesi, Scrabble or chess. Both buildings also have pleasant, fenced-in patios. If you can find parking, which isn't always easy, you can bar-hop without ever leaving the property.
