THE BACKGROUND: Grey Holiday was born after Minor and Bedingfeld, who were attending Southwestern University and playing covers in coffeehouses, decided to recruit their two friends from Clark High School to form a full band. Never mind that Bodet couldn't play bass and Fenoglio couldn't play the drums — they picked them up soon enough, and Grey Holiday was signed to Essential Records, an imprint of Sony BMG, in 2005.

CURRENTLY: In The Glorious Revolution, Minor sings about the importance of faith, community, love and overcoming struggles. The first track, “Glorious,” “speaks to finding beauty in the world around you when there seemingly is no beauty,” Bedingfeld said. “That grew into the heart of why we were doing what we were doing.” There are only six songs on the CD, but it also includes an interview, videos and a songwriting journal.

INFLUENCES: Interestingly, not Christian bands. “We grew up on Better Than Ezra,” Minor said. They also listened to everyone from Foo Fighters to Queen to Muse; Minor calls their sound “dramatic and eclectic.”

WHERE TO SEE THEM: Grey Holiday will play at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at the Loft Coffee House, 4400 U.S. Highway 281 North, north of Highway 46 in Spring Branch. The cover is an unwrapped gift for kids ages 3 months to 16 years.

THE 210 TAKE: Grey Holiday's music is heartfelt, positive and uplifting — and it's also catchy. Maybe that's why the band's first single, “Let Go,” is a favorite on Christian radio stations.
