THE GADGET CORNER: For those who like their tech with a little vintage Print E-mail
Wednesday, 28 November 2007

Imagine today's tech cranked out in the Victorian era, and you have a sense of what makes for “steampunk” — basically a mash-up of 21st-century gadgets with 19th-century craftsmanship and clockwork. STEAMPUNK COMPUTER MONITOR AND KEYBOARD
(see how they came together at steampunkworkshop.com)

“STEAM TREK: THE MOVING PICTURE”
(see full video at sisterson.co.uk or a shortened version at YouTube)
What if George Melies, the visionary behind the 1902 silent classic “A Trip to the Moon,” got his hands on Gene Roddenberry's beloved sci-fi franchise? You'd get this tongue-in-cheek short by animator Dennis Sisterson featuring Capt. James T. Shirt boldly going where no steampunk or “Star Trek” homage has ever gone before.
