Some people get in the holiday spirit by giving gifts, spending time with family and spreading all-around cheer. Others just drink. So, with the holiday season upon us, here are some cool holiday-themed drink recipes, culled from Web sites such as whattodrink.com and% thatsthespirit.com; they're sure to keep you and yours in good spirits (no pun intended) over the next six weeks or so.
 

DOG SLED

INGREDIENTS
16/1/2 ounces Canadian whiskey
16/1/2 ounces orange juice
1 teaspoon grenadine
1 tablespoon lemon juice

PREPARATION
Mix all ingredients, along with crushed ice, in a shaker and serve.
The 210 recommendation: Do not attempt to operate a dog sled, or any form of transportation for that matter, after consuming two or more of these.

EGGNOG LATTE

INGREDIENTS
2 cups eggnog
1 tablespoon rum
1 tablespoon bourbon
1 cup hot coffee

PREPARATION
Heat, but do not boil, eggnog. Mix hot eggnog with coffee and alcohol in a blender until the drink is frothy.
The 210 recommendation: Consume from a coffee cup, particularly in the morning. That way, after a few servings, your family will think you're really happy to see them, as opposed to just being a really happy drunk.

ENGLISH CHRISTMAS PUNCH

INGREDIENTS
750 mL bottle dark rum
750 mL bottle dry red wine
Juice of one lemon
Juice of one orange
1 pound sugar
3 cups strong tea

PREPARATION
Heat, but don't boil, the wine, tea, lemon and orange juice in a saucepan. Pour the hot mix into a heatproof punch bowl. Fill a ladle with sugar and place the remaining sugar in the punch bowl. Soak the sugar in the ladle with rum. Light the sugar and rum in the ladle with a lighter, then pour it into the punch. Stir the mix, and put out the flames. Pour any remaining rum into the punch. Stir, and serve in wine glasses.
The 210 recommendation: Prepare this drink early in the evening, before heavy alcohol consumption takes its toll and sparks the inevitable holiday house fire.

MEXICAN THREE WISE MEN

INGREDIENTS
62/3 ounce Jack Daniel's
62/3 ounce Jim Beam
62/3 ounce Jose Cuervo

PREPARATION
Combine the ingredients and pour into a shot glass and fire away.
The 210 recommendation: Downing more than two of these per hour, despite the misleading name, is not wise at all.

SCROOGEDRIVER

INGREDIENTS
5 ounces orange juice
1/1/2 ounces vodka
1/3 ounce peppermint schnapps

PREPARATION
Mix the two ingredients and pour over ice in a glass.
The 210 recommendation: Resort to this drink when you're low on booze, short on creative ideas, and yet still want your drink to maintain some semblance of holiday originality ..... even if it is pretty much the same old screwdriver you've been making since you first discovered your parents' liquor cabinet.
