Beam 'em up, Scottie — the original “Star Trek” episodes, that is.
“It's one of those can't-miss nights if you're a ‘Star Trek' fan,” said Dan Diamond, vice president of MCM Fathom, a company organizing the event. “Star Trek” fans will boldly go where no fan has gone before, seeing “The Menagerie” Parts 1 and 2 in a digitally re-mastered, high-definition format with cinema surround sound. When “Star Trek” premiered in 1966, it was one of the first TV shows to use special effects and delve into space exploration. “I think it was way ahead of its time,” Diamond said. The big-screen event is a promotion for the release of the first season of “Star Trek: The Original Series” in high-definition DVD a week later. The event includes an introduction by creator Gene Roddenberry's son, Eugene Roddenberry. Emily Messer | 210SA |
