If Trinity knew getting national attention was this easy, the Tigers likely would have started winning games with 15 laterals a long time ago. Trinity has become a hot story on national outlets such as ESPN and Jim Rome's radio show thanks to its 28-24 victory over Millsaps on Oct. 27, which included 15 laterals on the final play that allowed Riley Curry to score the winning touchdown. The play, which has since been dubbed the “Mississippi Miracle,” also helped Trinity stay in the playoff picture in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. If the Tigers win their final two regular season games against Centre (Ken.) and Austin College, they clinch at least a tie for the SCAC title and a spot in the NCAA Division III playoffs. “It's great for Trinity to get the recognition,” Tigers coach Steve Mohr told the San Antonio Express-News. “I'm happy for our players, because it will live with them forever.” Clint Hale, with wire reports | 210SA |
