“I wouldn't say it's PG-13. There is some (mature) language. Not a lot, but some. I mean, you are dealing with vampire lesbians,” said Greg Hinojosa, the play's producer and director.

The show chronicles the lives of two vampire lesbians who are also aspiring actresses and bitter rivals. The play follows them from Sodom in Biblical times to 1920s Hollywood to present-day Las Vegas.

“It's real high camp, a lot of tongue-in-cheek jokes to the audience, and there are very elaborate costumes,” Hinojosa said.

The play, written by Charles Busch, debuted in New York in 1984 and ran for an impressive five years off-Broadway.

The San Antonio production stars professional drag queens Taryn Taylor and Amber Nixx as well as Daniel Xavier.

“Everything is done with class and style, and it should be a lot of fun,” Hinojosa said. “It's an opportunity for us in the gay community to do something that is not necessarily set in a gay bar.”

The production raises money for We Are Alive, a nonprofit that assists terminally ill people.
