Jermell Houston takes command of the dance floor at The Falls. |
WHAT: The Falls
WHERE: 226 W. Bitters Road, Suite 120
THE DIGITS: (210) 490-5553
GET YOUR DRINK ON: 3 p.m.-2 a.m. Monday-Friday, 7 p.m.-2 a.m. Saturday-Sunday
HOTTIES QUOTIENT: High. The clientele tends to be a trendy post-college crowd under 30. And since the bar is so close to other hangouts at 281 and Bitters — including Wise Guys, the Bitter End, Bliss Ultra Lounge and Fast Eddie's — you're only a bar hop away from possibly greener pastures.
WALLET HANGOVER: Low. There's never a cover. Most drinks cost $6.25 or less. Domestic beers and well drinks cost a buck Sunday-Thursday. The rest of the time, domestics cost $2.75, imports cost $3.50 and wells are $3.75. There are rotating liquor and beer specials for $2 on Friday and Saturday.
THE 210 TAKE: With its sleek interior boasting a beautiful bar and its patio decked out with vertical fountains, the Falls has a clean, sophisticated feel without being pretentious. Rock cover bands such as Jawbreaker, Drive and Papa Wood take the stage Thursday-Saturday, acoustic bands play Monday and Tuesday and there's a DJ on Wednesday. There are also two huge TV screens, two dartboards and two arcade games (Silver Strike bowling and Golden Tee golf). From 10 p.m.-2 a.m. Friday and Saturday, the Oak Room next door offers VIP bottle service and a DJ. Liquor tastings and giveaways are common on weekend nights. “We're not an ultra lounge and never want to be,” said Falls manager Christina Narvaez. “We're basically your neighborhood bar with a little more attraction on the weekend.”
