If so, it might be time to show the rest of San Antonio what you admire on a daily basis.

Advenio Models, a local modeling agency, is having a model search party on Thursday, Sept. 27, at The Falls. The event, which will feature a performance from the Chris Lopez Band, will provide an opportunity for anyone who so desires to submit their modeling portfolio to the agency and pose before a panel of judges with the hopes of securing modeling work.

According to Advenio Models owner Jose Valdez Jr., the reason for the party is twofold.

For starters, it's an opportunity to gain some publicity by hosting a swanky party — full of beautiful people — for which there is no cover. And secondly, because of a recent business deal that has granted Advenio plenty of business, the agency needs more models — both male and female.

“(The event) is like a model walk, where people come through, stand in front of a judge and have them look you over,” Valdez said. “They mark down who could and couldn't be models.”

That decision, according to Valdez, isn't always the easiest to make, particularly since many people aren't known to take kindly to someone criticizing their appearance.

“I didn't think it would be that difficult before we started,” Valdez said of the model selection process. “But now that we've done it to people, it's gotten very hard.”

Which is why Valdez and his panel of judges won't inform people of their decision at the party, but rather the following day by phone.

“That could be a little risky,” Valdez said of turning people down in person.

As for what type of models Advenio desires, they are broken down into three general categories.

Promotional modeling includes attending events with the hopes of attracting people to a certain service or product.
According to Valdez, these models are typically very striking and apt to “draw attention pretty quickly.”

The second type of modeling is print, which includes posing for catalogs and other — less glitzy — publications and advertisements.

“We want common people with a good, attractive look, but not an all-out bombshell,” Valdez said.

Which segues into the final category, runway, which is comprised of tall, thin models. These types of models, however, are not highly sought after, according to Valdez, particularly since San Antonio isn't known for its runway shows.

But Valdez hopes to change that in the near future.

“We want more fashion here in San Antonio,” he said, “and we want San Antonio to be recognizable in the fashion industry.”
