WILCO: ‘IMPOSSIBLE GERMANY'
The Chicago sextet all but abandoned its experimental sound on its latest effort, Sky Blue Sky, but that doesn't mean the band has fallen off. Instead, Wilco — fronted by the much-revered (and now sober) Jeff Tweedy — softened up and straightened out on its latest album, and never is that more evident than on this poignant, touching ballad, which ranks among the best songs the band has ever recorded.
NELLY: ‘WADSYANAME'
Nelly is only in town for a few short hours, but he's looking for some action before his flight leaves. Enter “Shawty,” the object of his affection. But what's her name? And better yet, does it really matter?
DAUGHTRY: ‘OVER YOU'
Catchy, radio-friendly tracks like this helped Daughtry's self-titled debut become the biggest-selling album of the first half of 2007.
GARTH BROOKS: ‘MORE THAN A MEMORY'
For those who questioned whether Brooks was still a relevant force in country music, you might want to rethink that mindset. This single, the first from Brooks' upcoming box set, became the first in history to debut in the top spot on the Billboard U.S. Hot Country Songs chart.
KENNY CHESNEY: ‘DON’T BLINK’
The latest single from arguably country music’s biggest superstar tells us all to appreciate every moment in life, as it goes by a lot faster than we’d like to think. Didn’t Ferris Bueller once say pretty much the same thing?
GEORGE STRAIT: ‘HOW ‘BOUT THEM COWGIRLS’
That’s what Dallas fans are probably thinking, considering the way the Cowboys’ defense looks these days.
AGAINST ME!: ‘THRASH UNREAL’
This song is about a junkie who doesn’t really seem to mind that much that she’s partying her way into an early grave. That’s not a very nice thing to say about Britney Spears.
THE VAULT
ARTIST: Jay-Z
ALBUM: Vol. 2 . . . Hard Knock Life

THE 210 TAKE: Arguably Jay-Z's best album, Vol. 2 . . . Hard Knock Life featured club-bumping radio hits such as “Can I Get A .....,” “Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem)” and “Money, Cash, Hoes,” which features DMX. Music fans apparently view it as Jay-Z's best work, as its 8 million copies sold ranks as his biggest-selling album to date.
