FLICK IT: Opening this week at the movies Print E-mail

‘Good Luck Chuck'

Here's a sentence I never thought I would write: Jessica Alba is a talented comedienne. Unfortunately for her, she's been paired with Dane Cook, one of the least-talented funnymen in the business. Cook plays the title role in this sophomoric romantic comedy, a single, upwardly mobile dentist who, thanks to a childhood curse, is the guy women sleep with before they meet Mr. Right. The movie is relentlessly crass and vulgar and stupid, but it's almost worth seeing just for Alba's winning performance. Almost ..... but not quite. 1 hr. 36 mins. Watch the trailer.

‘Resident Evil: Extinction'

Milla Jovovich returns once again as the franchise's seemingly indestructible heroine Alice, who has left the smoking ruins of Raccoon City far behind for the deserts of the American West, where she joins a caravan of other survivors (including Ali Larter and Ashanti) to battle zombies and the evil Umbrella Corporation. Listen people: They're going to keep making these movies as long as you keep going to see them. So why don't you do us all a favor and stay home? 1 hr. 35 mins. Watch the trailer.

‘Sydney White'

Apparently, Amanda Bynes has it in her contract that she'll only star in modern versions of classic stories. After “Twelfth Night” update “She's the Man,” Bynes translates “Snow White” into “Sydney White.” Bynes plays the titular college student, who arrives on campus eager to pledge a sorority. Unfortunately, said sorority is lorded over by an evil witch (actually a perky cheerleader-type) who forces her to seek refuge in a house populated by seven dorks. 1 hr. 30 mins. Watch the trailer.
