Someone out there is looking out for us. Or at least someone is looking out for Matt Stone and Trey Parker because Comedy Central and the two South Park creators signed a deal that will take the hilarious cartoon into 2011 with 42 more episodes. So rejoice, those eternal prepubescent foul-mouthed insightful heroes of our generation — Eric Cartman, Stan Marsh, Kyle Broflovski and Kenny McCormick — will be around for a little while longer.
And since this column was due early because of the holiday, and I am notoriously lazy, I am cranking out a list column. Oh, clam up. You know the power of my lists.
So here you go. The Top 10 Most Offensive South Park Episodes and Therefore, Maybe The Best, List.
10. Episode 69 “Scott Tenorman Must Die.” An older boy sells Cartman a bag of pubic hair to make him think he's going through puberty. Once he realizes he's been had, he has Tenorman's parents killed and makes chili out of them.
9. Episode 57 and 58 “Do the Handicapped Go to Hell?” And, “Probably.” Kind of speak for themselves don't they?
8. Episode 87 “Red Hot Catholic Love.” A molestation scandal causes all of South Park's parents to become atheists; soon after, those same parents discover a way to eat by shoving food up their butts then defecating from their mouths.
7. Episode 108 “All About Mormons.” An inspirational re-telling of the story of Joseph Smith and the Mormons.
6. Episode 54 “Cherokee Hair Tampons.” Miracle product or New Age medicine rip-off?
5. Episode 67 “Cripple Fight.” Jimmy and Timmy go at it like Rowdy Roddy Piper and Keith David while Big Gay Al is fired from being a scoutmaster because he is gay.
4. Episode 114 “The Passion of the Jew.” Inspired by “The Passion of the Christ” and Mel Gibson, Cartman wants to expel all Jews from South Park.
3. Episode 139 “Bloody Mary.” You know, it's probably best I do not even try to describe this one. Lets just move on.
2. Episode 77 “Here Comes the Neighborhood.” Token begins a campaign to get other wealthy black families to move to South Park because he is tired of being the only rich kid. The residents, upset by the rising property values, dress as ghosts to scare the new families away.
1. Episode 113 “Up the Down Steroid.” Cartman fakes being retarded so he can rig the Special Olympics, and Jimmy takes steroids so he will win.
So here's to four more years of smut, uncomfortable observations, potty, sophomoric humor and everything else that makes South Park the greatest cartoon ever.
