After long search, cops find suspect at home

A manhunt for the suspect in the shooting of a San Antonio police officer ended at the same West Side apartment complex where it began. U.S. marshals arrested Jose Miguel Gonzalez, 30, at the apartment he shared with his disabled mother. Gonzalez had reportedly returned to the complex at least once more during the manhunt. Officer Richard Ruiz had been injured in a shooting there four days earlier.

Alberto Gonzales is serious about his vow to not lie to Congress.

New testimony compounded problems for Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, who is losing support among members of both parties even as he retains that of President Bush. FBI Director Robert Mueller appeared to contradict Gonzales' testimony to Congress about dissent over the president's secretive wiretapping program.

The 210 take: When asked to explain the discrepancies, Gonzales said: “Hey, look, what's that over there?!?”

If the threat of sectarian war looms over your country, try soccer!

Iraqis celebrated their national soccer team's first Asian Cup victory, upsetting three-time champions Saudi Arabia, 1-0, in overtime. Many revelers noted that the soccer players should be role models for their countrymen because they rose above the sectarian divisions. Celebratory gunfire killed at least four people in the hours after the game.

The 210 take: Finally, a story that combines the extreme violence of the Iraq war with the mind-numbing tedium of soccer.

Is this official wondering if she has time for a quick drink after a tough Q&A?

NASA officials may have allowed intoxicated astronauts to fly on at least two occasions, a new report says. One intoxicated astronaut flew into orbit on a Russian rocket; the other ended up with a shuttle launch delay for mechanical reasons but later tried to take off in a training jet while still under the influence. In both cases, the doctors and other astronauts were ignored by higher-ranking officials.

The 210 take: That's one small binge for a man, one big hangover for mankind.

No financial reports, and I'm still waiting for the waiter to bring the check.

A creditor of Landry's Restaurants, which operates the Tower of the Americas, has asked for early redemption of $400 million in bonds due in 2014 because Houston-based Landry's hasn't filed quarterly reports this year nor its annual report from last year.

The 210 take: Landry's execs said they'd be happy to reveal the reports. All the creditors have to do is ride the elevator up to the top of the Tower and take a look.
