Wednesday, 18 July 2007
The Cowboys, like every other NFL team, will feature plenty of new faces on their roster this season. Here are a few with whom to familiarize yourself.

CLINT HALE | 210SA

ADAM BERGEN

Position: Tight end

Previous team: Arizona

Height, weight: 6-4, 267

College: Lehigh

Pro: Bergen's size will make him a valuable blocker in three tight end sets.

Con: With Jason Witten and Anthony Fasano at the tight end spot, playing time will be hard to come by for Bergen.

LEONARD DAVIS

Position: Offensive lineman

Previous team: Arizona

Height, weight: 6-6, 366

College: Texas

Pro: The mammoth Davis should provide plenty of protection for quarterback Tony Romo.

Con: Davis hasn't been as dominant as some expected, considering he was taken second overall in the 2001 NFL Draft.

WADE PHILLIPS

Position: Head coach

Previous team: San Diego (defensive coordinator)

College: Houston

Career head coaching record: 48-42

Pro: Phillips is a master of Dallas' 3-4 defensive scheme, having utilized the same setup in San Diego.

Con: He has never won a playoff game as a head coach.

JASON GARRETT

Position: Offensive coordinator

Previous team: Miami (quarterbacks coach)

College: Princeton

Pro: Garrett is considered one of the top young assistant coaches in the NFL.

Con: Youth also translates into inexperience.

KEN HAMLIN

Position: Safety

Previous team: Seattle

Height, weight: 6-2, 209

College: Arkansas

Pro: Hamlin is experienced, having started 52 games during his four-year career.

Con: He struggles from time to time in pass coverage situations.

ANTHONY SPENCER

Position: Defensive end/linebacker

Previous team: Rookie

Height, weight: 6-3, 265

College: Purdue

Pros: Spencer is quick and a formidable pass rusher.

Con: Expect Spencer to struggle, particularly in his rookie campaign, against bulkier, more physical offensive linemen.
