When robots attack, they go to Iraq The U.S. is preparing to deploy “hunter-killer” drones to Iraq and Afghanistan sometime between this fall and next spring. The remote-controlled drones, aviation history's first robot attack squadron, are the size of jet fighters, powered by turboprop engines, able to fly at 300 mph and outfitted with infrared, laser and radar targeting — and a ton and a half of guided bombs and missiles each.
