Bartender Marcus Toy pours a cold one. Check out Kennedy's daily drink specials, with happy hour all day Sundays. And $6.75 lunch specials are featured every day.

What: Kennedy's

photo

Where: 19179 Blanco Road

The digits: (210) 764-1333

Get your drink on: 11 a.m.-2 a.m. daily

Hotties quotient: High. Not too far from UTSA, the loud, smoky bar attracts a crowd of mostly twentysomethings on casual dates or hanging with friends.

Wallet hangover: Average. The drinks aren't super cheap, but you're paying for quality: Kennedy's, an Irish bar, offers Guinness, Smithwick's and Harp, among others, on tap. Happy hour runs from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday-Friday and all day Sunday. Take advantage of the daily drink specials, including $3 Shiner pints on Saturday and $2.50 Dos Equis bottles on Tuesday. There are also $6.75 daily lunch specials that include meatloaf, enchiladas, chicken fried steak and $5.75 daily sandwich specials.

The 210 take: Stuck for some reason in a strip mall in the newly developed suburban wasteland north of Loop 1604, Kennedy's has a lot to offer: A beautiful freestanding rectangular bar, hearty food, a sunken lounge with lots of couches and chairs to curl up in, free Wi-Fi, live music on Tuesdays and Saturdays and karaoke on Sundays. But wait, there's more: A pool table, darts, an Internet jukebox, lots of TVs tuned to sports and — a rarity in San Antonio — a blackjack table manned by a professional dealer Monday-Friday. And if you get bored with all that, you can always watch the mesmerizing electronic board counting down the minutes until St. Patrick's Day.
