High school reunions can be entertaining — when they're not your own. Need proof? Check out these movies that reunite characters with their pasts.

“Romy and Michele's High School Reunion” (1997) The mother of all reunion movies, this film captures the insecurity and anxiety we've all felt when wanting to impress people from our past. That's before we, just like Romy (Mira Sorvino) and Michele (Lisa Kudrow), realize, “Why do we care what these people think anyway?!”

“Peggy Sue Got Married” (1986) Peggy Sue (Kathleen Turner when she was still hot) faints at her 25th high school reunion and dreams she is back in the 1950s, only with the wisdom of a woman in her 40s. For those who've ever thought, “If I knew then what I know now,” this is your movie.

“Grosse Pointe Blank” (1997) A hit man (John Cusack) faces the girl he stood up at the prom 10 years earlier when he's hired to kill someone in his hometown, where his 10-year high school reunion is going on at the same time. Good soundtrack, so-so movie.

Ready? Let's go!

High school reunion season starts this summer, and some people dread the idea of reuniting with the people they didn't particularly like in high school. Others have their reunion dates posted in their calendars. Good or bad, silly or sad, here are some reasons people give for attending, or not attending, their high school reunions.
