Democratic hopeful Barack Obama, will make a stop in San Antonio on Sunday, June 24.
The Illinois senator has laid out a number of items on his presidential agenda, including increasing and expanding earned income tax credits, increasing the minimum wage and offering more assistance to first-time mothers. He also has pledged to help working families.
“We know what needs to be done when it comes to giving our families a fighting chance,” he recently said in a prepared statement to the Spartanburg (S.C.) Herald-Journal. “And I think it's time we finally had a president who gets Washington to start doing it.”
Obama, born to a Kenyan father and an American mother, spent his childhood in Hawaii and Indonesia and later attended Columbia University and Harvard Law School. He served in the Illinois senate from 1997-2003 and became a U.S. senator in 2004.
