‘DOA: Dead or Alive'

Multiplexes are filled with comic-book movies these days, but it's been awhile since we've been treated to a movie based on a video game. Enter “DOA: Dead or Alive,” which takes its name and basic premise from the popular arcade franchise. Directed by Hong Kong action expert Corey Yuen, the movie revolves around a quintet of kick-ass babes (played by models and actresses that includes Jamie Pressly and Devon Aoki) who travel to a remote Pacific island to take part in an unlicensed martial arts competition. 1 hr. 27 mins.  Watch trailer here

‘Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer'

The Fantastic Four's second adventure is based on a widely revered story line originally published in 1966. This time around, Mr. Fantastic (Ioan Gruffudd), his soon-to-be wife the Invisible Woman (Jessica Alba), the Human Torch (Chris Evans) and The Thing (Michael Chiklis) square off against the world-devouring Galactus. Caught in the middle is the Silver Surfer, an intergalactic wave rider who serves Galactus but can't help feeling bad about it. 1 hr. 29 mins.  Watch trailer here

‘Nancy Drew'

Emma Roberts (niece of Julia, daughter of Eric) plays the famous sleuth who leaves the comfort of her quiet small town to accompany her dad on his business trip to the wild streets of Los Angeles. And it's only a matter of time before she has to bust out her magnifying glass and start hunting for clues. Now that Nancy Drew is back on the big screen, anyone wanna take bets on when we'll see an “Encyclopedia Brown” feature? 1 hr. 39 mins. Watch trailer here
