For Sylvia Fernandez, luring males young and old to last year's Bikini Bash proved none too difficult.

Of course, Fernandez and Nikita Productions — which puts on Bikini Bash — wanted to give women a reason to turn out for this year's Bikini Bash II, which takes place on Saturday, June 9, at Sunken Garden Theater.x 
So they offered a little reward.

While last year's Bikini Bash event encouraged women to don their bikini tops as Buckcherry headlined a night of rock music, this year's Bikini Bash II will also feature a bikini contest.

The winner of the contest, which will be voted on by a panel of five judges, will receive a $1,000 prize. The runner-up will receive $500, and the third-place contestant will claim a $250 prize.

Also, the first 99 women to arrive at the gates in bikini tops will be admitted free of charge.

“We're trying to get a lot of people (to enter the contest),” Fernandez said. “ There's some pretty hot girls, so why not (offer prizes)?”
Not that women in bikinis are the only reason to attend the 18-and-up Bikini Bash II.

In addition, Finger Eleven — whose latest single, “Paralyzer,” has made waves on the Billboard Modern Rock Charts — will headline the event.

“We like to get up-and-coming bands like that,” Fernandez said of Finger Eleven and last year's headliner, Buckcherry. “Whatever seems to be hot, that always works out well.”

Not so surprisingly, Bikini Bash II also will feature plenty of food and drink.

That, accompanied by some live music, makes for quite the start to summer.
 “Schools are out for the college crowd, and it's a chance to start off the summer with a party,” Fernandez said.
