A car's affordable price tag or top-notch fuel efficiency aren't the only factors taken into account when deciding on a vehicle. Oftentimes, an automobile's amenities play a deciding role. Here are some of those plush features some people factor in when making the call on which vehicle to drive off the lot.
DVD PLAYER
Price: Starts around $400
Is it worth it? Yes, but only if you have kids or spend a majority of your time as a designated driver for your friends. Otherwise, focus on the road.
MP3 HOOKUP
Price: Starts around $100
Is it worth it? Yes, unless your time spent in the car is minimal. Living in a city the size of San Antonio, that's highly doubtful.
ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE
Approximate price: $500-$750 (also depends on dealership)
Is it worth it? Yes, if only for peace of mind. Plus, you'll never have to learn how to change a tire.
SATELLITE RADIO
Approximate price: $150 (plus monthly programming fee)
Is it worth it? Yes, if you like talk radio or sports programming. If not, simply settle for the MP3 hookup, and enjoy your own musical selection.
SPOILER
Approximate price: $275
Is it worth it? Not unless you're a street racer or auditioning for another “Fast and the Furious” movie.
SUNROOF
Approximate price: $750
Is it worth it? Not in Texas, where we do our best to avoid the heat, not welcome it. On a more positive note, contrary to popular belief, sunroofs will not lead to a higher premium at most insurance companies.
