50 CENT: ‘STRAIGHT TO THE BANK'
That's where Fiddy is going these days, thanks to radio-friendly and still somewhat street-incredible songs like this one.
FERGIE: ‘BIG GIRLS DON'T CRY'
No, they don't. They just venture outside their Black Eyed Peas lair and ride Gwen Stefani's coattails all the way to platinum superstardom.
PLAIN WHITE T'S: ‘HEY THERE DELILAH'
This track tells the tale of a young couple struggling to make it work. She's in school and he's “a thousand miles away” trying to make a living out of this whole music thing. We give them three weeks, tops.
FINGER ELEVEN: ‘PARALYZER'
Hey, it's a rock-and-roll song about a guy who likes a girl. At least it's good, if somewhat unoriginal.
THE VAULT
ARTIST: Lauryn Hill
ALBUM: MTV Unplugged No. 2.0
RELEASE DATE: May 7, 2002
THE 210 TAKE: It's hard to believe that, considering the profound impact she's made on R&B and pop music, Hill has only released one solo studio album. It helps that the studio album — 1998's The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill — was one of the best and most influential releases of the '90s. Her follow-up was this — a two-disc live effort that featured nothing more than Hill's soulful voice and an acoustic guitar. For a talent like Hill, that was more than enough to make this album a worthy follow-up to her solo debut.
