Ricky Martin, who bailed out on a May 12 concert at Verizon Wireless Amphitheater because of a sprained lower back, isn't the only performer recently to put off playing in San Antonio. And while they all had their “reasons,” 210SA has its thoughts on what really caused each of the following musicians to play their scheduled date in the Alamo City. Here are some examples.
RICKY MARTIN
Scheduled date: May 12, 2007
His reason: Postponed due to Martin's injury in Laredo.
What we think really happened: Martin crossed the border after his Laredo show, and what happens in Mexico stays in Mexico.
ROD STEWART
Scheduled date: April 17, 2007
His reason: Bad weather grounded Stewart's plane the previous week, and set off a chain of events that led to a cancellation of his San Antonio date.
What we think really happened Stewart met another 20-something model and had to quickly jet off to Vegas before she turned 30.
LINDA RONSTADT
Scheduled date: April 13, 2007
Her reason: Rain stopped Ronstadt's show after two songs
What we think really happened: It was past her bedtime.
THE WHO
Scheduled date: March 20, 2007
Their reason: Lead singer Roger Daltrey contracted bronchitis.
What we think really happened: The 63-year-old Daltrey needed hip replacement surgery. Touring, apparently, takes its toll on aging legs.
MARY J. BLIGE
Scheduled date: Aug. 9, 2006
Her reason: Technical issues
What we think really happened: Technically, ticket sales sucked.
