THEY ARE: So Unloved THE SOUND: South Texas death punk influenced by Betty Blowtorch, the Runaways and other all-female or female-fronted punk bands. Or, as Cece Cherie puts it, “It's like getting punched in the face by the littlest girl you've ever seen and then kissed on the forehead by the same little girl.”
THE MEMBERS: Omega Unloved on guitar and lead vocals, Cece Cherie on lead guitar and vocals, Debi Disaster on bass and vocals, Xavier on drums THEIR WORDS: “I always get this sh** like, ‘Your guitar is bigger than you.' It doesn't make a difference how I f***ing play it, so what's the big deal?” — Cece Cherie THEIR ALBUMS: So Unloved (2005), Pink, Black and Broken (2006) WHERE TO SEE THEM: Ruta Maya Riverwalk Coffee House on June 16 THE WEB: myspace.com/theunloved THE 210 TAKE: Yeah, the three women in So Unloved are tiny — not a one is taller than 5 feet 2 inches, and Debi's amp is taller than she is — but boy, can they scream. The band started as all-female in 2000, but they've had a male drummer for the past four years. After Cherie graduated from high school, the band moved to Los Angeles to play the punk club circuit, where they were signed by S.O.S. Records and recruited to play Warped Tour. Luckily for San Antonio, they moved back here to save cash. They've toured with the Addicts, Vice Squad and, most recently, the Exploited and are working on a new album for 2008. Check them out live — their shows are energetic, raucous and highly entertaining. And you'll know what it's like to be scared by a 4-foot-11-inch woman in pigtails.
