KRTU 91.7 FM, Trinity's listener-supported radio station known mostly for its jazz now kicks out the jazzy jams in Second Life, an online 3-D world rife with unusual avatars and other excitement for users.
At KRTU's Second Life studio, visitors can tap their heels to live streaming music and chat with other listeners as well as tap into KRTU audio archives and record their own smooth sounds in a special program at the site.
The Second Life radio station gets its virtual presence thanks to Metaversatility, a San Antonio-based virtual world development company.
“We basically wanted to expand KRTU's existing audience to a sort of global audience,” said Matt Daly, a KRTU disc jockey and Metaversatility co-founder/creative lead.
Second Lifers can kick it at KRTU over at Metaversatility Island (SLurl.com/secondlife/Metaversatility/198/162).
