“I'm shy,” he says. No, really. Adams, a 25-year-old from the Panhandle town of Canyon, is coming to San Antonio to take it all off — well, except for the bowtie and the banana hammock — at Graham Central Station. That is, after all, what The Chippendales do. That and drive women crazy — in a good way, of course. “It's a good, clean, classy show,” Adams said. “We're a special event. It's a show, not a strip show.” The Chippendales show features “eight to nine guys onstage at the same time, and one number leads in to the next number,” Adams said. “It's not your typical male-review strippers. It's a full production show, direct from Las Vegas, fully choreographed, with everybody in sync.” That said, the guys do get into the audience for some dancing, and dollar bills are more than welcome. “It's up to (the audience),” he said. “We just sort of have fun.” Adams came to the revue two years ago after being asked to audition, and he's found he likes being the object of attention for so many women. “It's the closest thing to being a rock star without playing an instrument,” he said. Still, though, he says it's a little surreal. “I'm the boy next door,” he said. “I'm shy, really just a good old country boy. So this is a big twist for me.” Jennifer Roolf Laster| 210SA contributor |
