‘AMERICAN IDOL'
Lowdown: It's not the same without Haley Scarnato (the singing's better, but the looks have suffered), but all you “AI” fans are sure to be glued to the tube when the flock gets cut from six to four. That's right — two are going home, mostly because “Idol” producers didn't want to eliminate someone during last week's charitable “Idol Gives Back” episode. Great, another week of Phil “Damn, I Wish I Was Chris Daughtry” Stacey.
When: 8 p.m.
Where: FOX
Info: americanidol.com
Thursday | May 3
BLUE CATS JAM
Lowdown: Feeling blue now that Fiesta's over? Hang out with folks who know what you mean. The San Antonio Blues Society presents the weekly S.A. Blue Cats Jam, a chance to cry in your cups about the dog that left you and the spouse who won't.
When: 8-11 p.m.
Where: Sam's Burger Joint, 330 E. Grayson
How much: No cover
Info: sanantonioblues.com
SLAB CINEMA
Lowdown: As part of its 2007 Outdoor Film Series, Slab Cinema presents “My Son the Vampire,” starring Bela Lugosi as the bloodsucker with a thing for necks. The attraction here, as you might guess, is not the film so much but the opportunity to suck on some neck of your own once darkness falls.
When: 9 p.m. Preshow starts at dusk.
Where: La Tuna Icehouse & Grill, 100 Probandt (at Cevallos)
How much: Free; donations accepted
Info: slabcinema.com or (210) 212-9373
CONJUNTO!
Lowdown: Didn't get enough accordion or bajo sexto at Fiesta? This exhibition opening features more music than you can shake a maraca at. Plus, eye candy: Check out the work of 10 featured artists who have incorporated the spirit of conjunto into their work. Performances by Juan (pictured at left) and Armando Tejeda, Conjunto Heritage Taller and Juanito Castillo. The exhibit runs through Oct. 3.
When: Opening 6-9 p.m.
Where: UTSA Institute of Texan Cultures, 801 S. Bowie St.
How much: Free
Info: 210-458-4983
Friday | May 4
‘SPIDER-MAN 3'
Lowdown: This is probably going to be the last film in the “Spider-Man” series, or possibly the last one featuring stars Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst (left) and director Sam Raimi. No more Kirsten Dunst and Tobey Maguire? We're willing to sacrifice more “Spider-Man” flicks for that reason alone.
When: Midnight, Thursday, May 3
Where: See listings
Info: spiderman3. sonypictures.com
‘LUCKY YOU'
Lowdown: Drew Barrymore and Eric Bana (he played the Hulk) star in a Las Vegas-based romantic comedy about gambling. Here's a gamble — opening opposite “Spider-Man 3.” If the webslinger has his way (and he assuredly will), “Lucky You” will end up face down in a Vegas dumpster by week's end, or, at the very least, the bargain DVD bin.
When: As soon as your local theater starts popping corn.
Where: See listings

VALLEJO
Lowdown: Once upon a time, this Austin-based rock outfit was supposed to be the next big thing. Though that didn't happen, despite a pair of quality releases in the late '90s, Vallejo is still a regular on the Texas touring circuit. The band is playing this date in San Antonio, and then heading back to Austin for a show the next night.
When: 9 p.m.
Where: Jack's Patio Bar & Grill, 2950 Thousand Oaks Drive
How much: $10 for 21 and up, $15 under 21
Info: myspace.com/jackspatiobar

When: 8 p.m.-2 a.m.
Where: Sam's Burger Joint, 330 E. Grayson
How much: $8
Info: girlinacoma.com
PAULY SHORE
Lowdown: The promotion line for this show says “Pauly Shore from MTV & countless movies!!” Go ahead and scoff, but “Son in Law” was underrated. “In the Army Now?” Not so much.
When: 8 p.m.
Where: Capitol City Comedy Club, 8120 Research Blvd., Austin
How much: $22-$25
Info: paulyshore.com
BURY YOUR DEAD
Lowdown: On the Main Stage: Suicide Silence, Stick to Your Guns, Since the Flood, and Before the Bloodshed. On the Jam Stage: Prom Night Fist Fight, Ides of March and December Sky. Such optimism. Do these bands double as motivational speakers?
When: 7 p.m.
Where: White Rabbit,% 2410 N. St. Mary's St.
How much: $12-$14
Info: sawhiterabbit.com
Sunday | May 6
‘DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES'
Lowdown: Formerly known as the “it” show and now just a popular one, the housewives are no longer the desperate ones. Judging from critical reception, the show's producers and writers are.
When: 8 p.m.
Where: ABC
Info: desperatehousewives.com
BUGS HENDERSON
Lowdown: This country/rock musician has a guitar hanging in the Hard Rock Café in Dallas, but we're more curious as to how he got his name. Maybe he was an exterminator before he hit it big.
When: 5:30-9 p.m.
Where: Gruene Hall, 1281 Gruene Road, New Braunfels
How much: No cover
Info: gruenehall.com
Monday | May 7
PINT NIGHT
Lowdown: Seventy draught beers in the house, all for a meager $2.50 a pint. Of course, it probably wouldn't be wise to try to drink all 70 in one night. Always in moderation, folks, always in moderation.
When: 11 a.m.-1 a.m.
Where: Flying Saucer,% 11255 Huebner Road No. 212
How much: No cover
Info: beerknurd.com
Tuesday | May 8
‘MUSIC & LYRICS' DVD
Lowdown: How is this show already out on DVD? Wasn't it just in the theaters for Valentine's Day? Those damned movie pirates must have gotten to it.
When: When your local retailer opens
How much: $20-ish
Info: musicandlyrics.warnerbros.com
‘HOOTERS DREAM GIRL CHALLENGE'
Lowdown: Can you get some chicken wings with that shake? At Hooters, yes, you can. The geniuses who brought you “American Heiress” are back with this piece of undoubtedly eminently watchable fluff that will only set women back about two generations. Bottoms up, indeed.
When: 7 p.m.
Where: MyNetwork
Info: mynetworktv.com
HARRY CONNICK JR.
Lowdown: The swinging, singing New Orleans piano boy returns to San Antonio as part of a tour behind his two new albums — Oh My Nola and Chanson Du Vieux Carre. Nice of him to take a break from hosting “100 Biggest Weather Moments” on The Weather Channel. We're not kidding. That show actually aired last month.
When: 8 p.m.
Where: Majestic Theatre, 224 E. Houston
How much: $47-$67
Info: majesticempire.com or ticketmaster.com
