It's been called the Mexican Fourth of July and a celebration of culture. It's also a reason to party. The city of San Antonio, in cooperation with the San Antonio Farmers Market Association, will put on its annual three-day Cinco de Mayo festival at Market Square.

Pete Peña, president of the Farmers Market Association, said the festival is a way for people of different backgrounds and ethnicities to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. A number of local vendors will offer cultural delicacies such as menudo and tortillas, and souvenirs such as T-shirts and caps. The festival will also have some family-friendly stops, such as face painting and balloon booths.

“When we put this together, we really wanted it to cater to everybody,” he said.
