CHARLIE ROBISON, May 9, County Line Bar-B-Q: Not only is Robison an accomplished country musician, but he's also married to Emily from the Dixie Chicks. And thus, he's realized two more dreams than just about every small-town man alive. BRIGHT EYES, May 13, Bass Concert Hall, Austin: Ultra-liberal indie guy Conor Oberst is on tour in support of his newest release, Cassadaga. That came on the heels of a six-song EP titled Four Winds. And that EP came only two years after Bright Eyes released two full-length albums on the same day — Digital Ash in a Digital Urn and I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning. For a laid-back, hippie type, Oberst sure is busy. LINKIN PARK, MINUTES TO MIDNIGHT, May 15: Linkin Park was once considered rap-metal, then nu metal. Of course, both phases have since passed, and yet, Linkin Park remains. Perhaps it's time to anoint them with a proper label — such as “good band.” DEFTONES, May 18-19, Lonestar Pavilion at Sunset Station: San Antonio's reputation as a friend of the national hard rock scene must have spread, as Deftones — one of the nation's premier rock acts — invade the Alamo City for two nights. And as if that wasn't enough, two nights after Deftones wrap things up in San Antonio, hard rock enthusiasts get ..... TOOL, May 21, AT&T Center: After rescheduling twice, it appears the boys from Tool are finally ready to rock San Antonio. Of course, at this point, it's going to take lead singer Maynard James Keenan and company on stage, with instruments in hand, to truly believe that this concert is a go. CHAYANNE, June 2, AT&T Center: The Puerto Rican heartthrob has been nominated for Grammy awards and posed for Playgirl (not nude, however). Now, he's bringing his extravagant Spanish-language show to San Antonio. NORAH JONES, June 16, Majestic Theatre: For such a low-key character, Jones sure is polarizing. Some swear by her music. Others call her “Snorah” Jones. Guess which ones won't be showing up to the Majestic. FALL OUT BOY, June 20, Verizon Wireless Ampitheater: America's favorite emo/punk/pop quartet was supposed to be here in April for an outdoor show at Verizon. But, because of “personal issues,” Fall Out Boy pushed the date back a couple of months. Sucks to be them. Texas is a hell of a lot hotter in June than April. |
