THE KILLERS, April 13, Frank Erwin Center: The Killers are only playing two Texas dates on their headlining tour, and unfortunately for San Antonians, the Alamo City isn't one of them. Luckily, Austin is on the list one of those dates, and that's not even 90 minutes away. So gas up the car, and spend the entire drive up to Austin convincing yourself that the Killers' latest album — Sam's Town — wasn't that bad. “PERFECT STRANGER,” April 13, theaters nationwide: A reporter (Halle Berry) investigates the murder of her childhood friend and ends up in the dark corners of the online dating world. Along the way, she stumbles upon a high-powered advertising CEO (Bruce Willis) who may or may not be responsible for her friend's untimely demise. You're fascinated now, aren't you? NINE INCH NAILS, Year Zero, April 17: For a lucky few musical talents, there comes a point in their respective careers where they have received so much critical and commercial acclaim, they can pretty much do anything they want. Nine Inch Nails mastermind Trent Reznor is one of those musical talents. FIESTA, April 20: The salute to beer, food, culture and everything San Antonio begins. But pace yourself because the annual event lasts 10 days, and you want to live to see Fiesta 2008. FALL OUT BOY, April 25, Verizon Wireless Ampitheater: First, Fall Out Boy gets Jay-Z to voice the intro to its latest album — Infinity on High — and now, Houston rapper Paul Wall is joining them on tour. When did pop-punk and rap form this secret alliance? MIX FEST, April 27, Sunset Station's Lonestar Pavilion: Blue October, “American Idol” runner-up Katharine McPhee, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Augustana and others are on the bill. For those who forgot, Blue October is known primarily for the love-it-or-hate-it single “Hate Me.” But it's a safe bet that they'll sing some other songs as well. TYPE O NEGATIVE, April 28, The White Rabbit: This heavy metal band burst onto the commercial scene in the mid-late 1990s with albums such as Bloody Kisses and October Rust. Type O is back on tour in support of its latest album — Dead Again. “SPIDER-MAN 3,” May 4, theaters nationwide: Sure, everyone has already seen Peter Parker — on two occasions — battle imposing villains in his quest to save the world. But were any of those villains as scary as Lowell Mather from “Wings” (Thomas Haden Church as Sandman) or physical specimen Topher Grace as the evil Venom? We think not. |
