Looking for fried chicken on the go? Then Speedy's Chicken is just what you've been waiting for. With the help of his family, Ruben Vela, 22, set up shop on the South Side, created a MySpace page and spread the word to his friends and neighbors about his new chicken “mobile express” site. He's been working at his dream — to bring a new taste to San Antonio — for the past five months and not doing too badly. He serves up family orders of fried chicken with a wide array of sides — including French fries, mashed potatoes, fried okra, jalapeño poppers, mac and cheese and corn. He also fries up crispy chicken tenders, if that's more your style. It's also really cheap, which we like a whole lot: A 10-piece mix with two large sides is only $15. That's way better than that finger-lickin' place. Vela is hoping to move into a building that he's restoring within the next three months. But until then, we'll take a 10-piece to go at the trailer.

Taste sensation: The dude wasn't kidding when he said he wanted to bring a new taste to S.A. The chicken is moist and flavorful, and the seasoned breading is delicious and melts in your mouth. Add some of their cream gravy, and you're in heaven. And we almost forgot about the sweet tea — it's the best in town! Get a gallon for just $2.

Tums-worthy: OK, OK. We know it's not really the healthiest place to get your grub on, but sometimes you just need to indulge. And if you're picky about eating from a “mobile express” site, then this probably is not the place for you.

The 210 take: Not only is it cool that Ruben and his wife, Lisa, are living out their dream, but their food really does taste good. Also, we peeked inside the Speedy's trailer, where all that goodness happens and were impressed with how clean everything was.  The other thing that got our thumbs up is that all of Speedy's Chicken marketing and advertising has been through MySpace.
