Something smells in here, and it is not the usual stench you may be used to from an issue of 210SA.
Nope, today something stinks of burning collagen, Maybelline, gin, eating disorder and something faux. It must be Joan Rivers.
And that's exactly what it is, “The Comedy Central Roast of Joan Rivers.”
Comedy Central is back to old hat in August when its latest roast airs at 9 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 9.
Ah, Joan, it was only a matter of time.
Hopefully, this roast will be better than Comedy Central's last time at the pit with Larry the Cable Guy.
Poor Larry, Bill Engvall and the other guy did not even bother to show up. Foxworthy was there, but he just showed for the potato salad. For those other two not to show up is like Bert and Ernie not attending Elmo's quinceañera.
Or plastic and Massengill not attending Rivers' roast. No need to worry about that, though, because not only is Rivers going to be in attendance in all her facial glory (it is her roast, after all), but Kathy Griffin will be the roast master.
Too crass? Sorry. Writing about a roast here, though, it's all in good fun. Besides, you know the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about a night with Griffin and Rivers is heading to the bar and ordering a double Scotch for you and a couple of vinegars and waters for the ladies, right?
Ohh, again, forgive me, could not resist. All right, then. Folks, be sure to tip your waiters, I'll be here all year ... I hope.
The lineup of comedians and stars having a go at Rivers includes Richard Belzer, Carl Reiner, Jeffrey Ross, a few others and the greatest comedian of our time, Gilbert Gottfried.
Regardless, it's going to be a squeaker of a good time. In her prime, pre-Tupperware, Rivers was a heck of a comedienne.
And for the dramatic dénouement, after Rivers chortles her farewell, watch the christening of her heir apparent as Griffin's latest cheek and nose reconstruction surgery is shown live. TA DA!
